A new zinc/iron wound management system is a novel, innovative technology that may have a great impact on wound care management. The following manuscript describes the phases and principles of modern wound healing it also includes a specific rationale for the development and application of the zinc/iron, management solution in combination with a newly developed occlusive dressing with reservoir. Data presented demonstrates the ability of the system to accelerate time to healing and reduce scar formation, which are two critical goals of modern wound care. Further, the wound management system is lightweight and relatively inexpensive.
